Smarter Mobility

Here’s a quick video I found interesting about the use of fuel and transport in urban areas and the future if transportation in general. The use of automated cars is a strange thought at the moment, but certainly nothing that can’t be done in time with focused funding and research. The use of open spaces to encourage other non-vehicular traffic is one that I particularly like, as well as the compacting city centres to reduce need for excessive traffic in those areas.

I realize this video is produced by Shell, a major player in the petroleum industry and that always makes me a little weary. The benefit is, however, that if these companies are thinking long term and taking things like greenhouse gas emissions seriously, then that can be a positive place to spring board from into a world that’s more sustainable.
