It’s good to see poetry getting a public forum in Newfoundland and it’s great from a personal perspective to be be involved in it as well. The Metroverse program has been revived in St. John’s on the Metrobus service and includes a variety of poets currently active in the province. George Murray, Agnes Walsh, Robin McGrath, and Mark Callanan, just to name a few, have excerpts of poems appearing across the city on buses and at bus stops. If you look carefully, you may see part of one of my own poems, “Can You Ride Horses There?”, travelling with users of public transit on city roadways.
The Telegram covered the official launch event that occurred at the end of September. Have a read if you feel so inclined.
